4Stylish but limited use-please see addendum
By Peggy
This oven is aesthetically pleasing but takes up a lot of counter space. It seems a lot of thought went into the design ,for example the nice weight cooking pan has a separate lift bracket with stay cool handles. However, if the top part were just 2 inches taller it would have more functional use. I cooked Ore-Ida oven fries in it on the supplied non-stick pan and they were quickly cooked perfectly with an enhanced potato taste. Then later I cooked manicotti in a small and shallow rectangle glass Pyrex dish. Part of one of the top elements had burned melted cheese on it. Both items cooked much quicker than if I had used my regular sized convection oven or my convection microwave oven since no warm up period was required. However, it seems everything has to be place only on the cooking pan which is about the size of a medium frozen pizza. This greatly limits the everyday use of this oven. I had hoped since my toaster-oven recently died that this item would take it's place, but that is not the case. I will probably still use it for fries and frozen pizza, but if I'm baking cookies, a cake or a pie then I'll use my microwave or full sized oven.
03/07/11 update:
I happily use this appliance several times a week for multiple reheating and cooking. I was short sighted in thinking it was not sized properly for frequent use, although I still think making it a couple of inches taller would be beneficial. If you purchase Phillips' crab cakes, you can cook them frozen to perfection w/o adding any cooking oil or butter. When I cook fresh fish on this I do add butter and seasoning. When and if this appliance dies I will replace it.

4Works good for me, but note the "height issue".
By G. Hearn
**After having this oven for a couple of days, I decided that I needed to rewrite my review, as I found out more information**

As I'm writing this, there's not really a lot of information listed on Amazon which describes exactly what this item is supposed to do. . . .so I would like to "enlighten" those who are interested in making a purchase.

In my opinion, this is really more of a "snack" / "pizza" / "reheat" sort of item. . . but. . . you can also bake cookies. This is NOT a toaster oven. If you want to make toast, then you're better off using either a toaster, or a toaster oven. But most toaster ovens can't bake a 12" pizza, and this one can! I've already tried it, and it's delicious!

Let's start at the top. First of all, as you're looking at the front, the "top" or "lid" is hinged on the back. There are grips on both sides in the front, so you can easily lift the lid.

Heating coils are located at the back of the top, and the back of the bottom of the unit. Coils are not located on the front side, because the tray rotates, for even baking.

A "trivet" fits in the bottom, and then the non-stick 12" tray fits right on top of the trivet. This makes it really nice when you're removing something, because you simply raise the trivet, which has handles on both sides (which don't get hot, by the way) and lift-out the 12" tray. Yes, the trivet stays in while baking. This is a really nice feature, so you're not trying to find a way to take something out. Also, you must always use the 12" tray, even if you are placing something like a pie plate on top (for quiche).

As soon as you turn the oven on, the tray starts to rotate. You select what you're going to bake from pre-programmed options:
*Pizza: all types
*Snacks: precooked chicken nuggets, pizza rolls, fish sticks, buffalo wings, frozen hash brown patties
*Toast: frozen garlic bread - but only if it's not very tall. (again, this is really not what you want to simply toast a slice of bread)
*Bake: cookies, quiche (recipe included in the instruction book), any other small, short items
*Warm: use this setting to keep whatever you might like warm. I think this might come in very handy when entertaining. But see the issue with "height" below

Once you make your selection of the pre-programmed options, then you set the number of minutes. There is a guide, in the booklet which comes with the oven, to give you an idea of how long you should set the oven. If you're unsure, then you should start with fewer minutes, because you can always increase the time as necessary. You do not need to preheat the oven, which is nice. Please Note: There is not temperature setting. You set the "mode" and minutes only. I can only assume that "bake" is probably 350 degrees.

The window in the front will let you know how things are going. Once the time is up , the oven will beep until you turn the power off. The tray continues to rotate until you turn the power off, which is nice.

As I've said, I've already tried it for pizza, and I really like it. Again, being able to bake an entire frozen 12" pizza (standard size for many frozen pizzas) is really nice. I think it would work well to reheat a lot of items also. Though you can use a microwave to reheat items, let's face it. . . a microwave doesn't work so great on certain items such as pizza, Danish, breaded items, and so on.

But I must admit that though I like this oven, it does have some "limitations". First and foremost is height. By that, I mean the height of the item you're placing inside the oven. I do not see the maximum height listed anywhere in the instruction manual. I called the service number listed in the manual and they had to check and call me back. . which they did. They have said that the item should not be more than one-inch in hei ght. That will allow for a "slight" bit of rising, but not much. If it is higher than that, then it's going to touch the coils on the top of the oven. I dare say that someone is going to have a mess with this oven because of this issue, if they are not careful. For example, I tried to bake frozen biscuits in it. Though they are only ½" at best when frozen, the rise a lot, and they burned on top, because they kept hitting the coils as they went around. Also, though I think this oven would be great to use to keep things warm, you're not going to be able to place a casserole dish in it, because it's going to be too tall.

Another item that I will mention, and though it wasn't a big problem, I think it's worth noting. . . and that's moisture. While baking the pizza moisture built-up inside. When I opened the lid, some drops were on the counter, and I also needed to wipe some off the inside. Again, not a big deal, but something the be aware of.

Thus far, cleanup looks fairly simple and straightforward. You must always use the non-stick tray, no matter what you're baking, and that is removed easily and cleans-up without a problem. You can wipe the top out easily as well. I must say that I wonder how the top is going to last over time, because if you use this oven for things which might "splatter" more, such as chicken wings, then I think it might be a little more of a challenge, because you have to work around the elements which are at the back also. Also, because you always have to use the tray, I don't know how long it's going to last. There is information in the manual about getting replacement parts, but the item is not yet listed on their website for that.

Even with the height issue, so far, overall, I like the oven. Just make sure this item fits your needs, especially with the height issue. I think the next thing I will try is a rising-crust pizza to see how it works. The one I tried was n ot that type, and it worked great.

5Faster than a toaster oven - no more mushy microwave meals
By target'
I have toasted, english muffins , thick-cut fruit nut loaf, buns; made fries, chicken strips, stuffed mushrooms, pizza, omelets (in shallow glass dish) & salmon filets. Brussel sprouts and butternut squash next...

I am enjoying this appliance very much. It is easy to clean and more versatile than anything else that i looked at. My toaster is now in the cupboard and I don't miss it. I thought that this would be used now and then as others have written, but I have yet to put it away. It does use a lot of counter space but I find it to be worth while.

It creates a convection without the noisy fan. Anything too thick to cook in here, I would probably grill or bake anyways. Just about everything I put in it tastes better than from a microwave. Great design and solidly made. I snatched it up at a great price of $69.99 including free shipping.
