Works like a standard oven and saves on utility bill.

Have had my black coated Nesco 6 Quart Millennium cooker for approx 10+ years (purchased at Big Lots. The model# is the same but the dial coloring/outside is slightly different. Please understand, I've had my pot for a long time but the functions are the same). Nesco 6 qt. Silver Roaster Oven 4816-4709 It comes with a deep insert for cooking and serving. Has a steel rack (for baking, steaming, etc - ex: I've baked muffins on it with a muffin pan) that sits deep inside the insert without taking space away from its lifted lid. This appliance works as a substitute for my oven. I purchased it to help keep down my utility bill when baking/cooking and it does extremely well. Moreover, due to its build and thickness it has held up and saved me big bucks time and time again. And because of the great settings: slow cook to cook, roast, bake and steam, I use it quite often for baked potatoes, brownies, cookies, cakes (put cake/loaf pan on the rack), pies, casseroles, chicken, meatl oaf, fish, ribs, pork chops, hams to steamed vegetables, warmed leftovers, mouthwatering pastas, soups or potlucks and the list goes on. So far, there hasn't been anything this cooker can not do in comparison to a conventional oven. Only con so far is size - unable to compete when I need that large space but no problem (I hardly ever use my stove's oven). In addition, it works well with aluminum foil; just like a standardized oven. If it wasn't for the heat to the touch you would not even know when it was on (quiet operation) so be careful - it gets pretty warm on the outside. Handles are fine - they remain cool. Without a doubt, I would purchase it all over again if I had the chance. I use it about once a month or so and it still works like it did when I bought it. Once you purchase, use it wisely and you will enjoy it for many years to come. Take care.
