4Small enough to fit on a countertop, large enough to be useful
By lizellis
Make no mistake, this is no mere toaster oven. It's the first portable oven of the many that I've owned that is actually large enough to do some serious cooking. The two included removable racks allow you the versatility of baking on two levels simultaneously or of accommodating a taller cooking vessel on a single level. The usable interior space measures 8.5" high, 13" deep and 13.75" wide and will fit two 13" round pizza stones or two 9" x 13" baking dishes. Just be sure that the baking dishes don't have handles which might put them over the limit.

It shipped with rotisserie equipment, two metal shelf racks, one large enameled metal baking pan and one smaller aluminum broiler or baking pan with a rack that fits inside. The enameled pan is a shelf unto itself and it fits into the rack slots whereas the smaller pan sits on one of the supplied shelf racks. You may never need anything else but if you do, Amazon sells many other accessories which will fit the oven.

One thing that should be noted is that the exterior can get hot; I gather that it's not particularly well insulated, possibly a result of cost-cutting. That's generally not a problem as long as you're aware of it and take precautions. And it can even be turned into an advantage because the top can be used as a warming tray.

The oven has seen constant use since I've had it and has turned out a delicious crusty loaf of French bread, two batches of chocolate chip cookies (on quarter sheets which I purchased separately) and a homemade pizza. It's also broiled filet mignon and heated up various other items. As far as I'm concerned, the Hamilton Beach Countertop oven has paid for itself already and I look forward to using it for a long time to come.

5Super for outdoors!
By Cypress Mom
I bought this to go in the garage so that I could get the cooking heat out of the kitchen. So far I've done quickie dinners like chicken strips and frozen pizza but I have also done cornish game hens using the rotisserie feature as well as homemade bannana bread, pigsnblankets, baked fish and augrautin potatos. It's done a great job at everything. I chose this oven because it was the only one with rotisserie and the ability to fit a 9x13 casserole (actually it holds two!) and should come in handy for Thanksgiving and the like. I will point out that casserole dishes with handles or grab sides will not fit, so don't be disappointed when your go-to pyrex dishes with handles won't fit.

If your plan is to use this inside your house to keep from having to fire up your full size oven then I would discourage you from getting this because I think this oven will heat up the house just as much and take up a ton of space. If you plan on keeping it in the garage or a c overed outdoor kitchen then this is the one to get. Lots of value for the price.

----------------UPDATE-----------------------

The oven heating elements quit working properly around August 2012, so this oven only made it about one year. At first I thought I had just screwed up my cooking time/temp, because it had been so reliable previously. It just will not get hot enough to cook. I used to be able to broil steaks and they would come out perfectly, now they won't even cook on the highest setting. I'll be tossing this one out and spending the extra money on a name brand.

3Thermostat is sloppy
By Gary
For the cost of this oven, it is OK. Nothing special. There are some things this oven does well, but to excel at baking is not one of them. For reheats and those things that are not critical, it does the job. Two things that bring it down for us. The main thing is how sloppy the thermostat is. When placed on just "bake" with out the use of the convection fan, the temperature is where it should be, but only after I calibrated it. It was found to be 25 degrees high. But when used with the convection fan, the temperature can go as high as 60 degrees over from what the thermostat is set for.
I have many years behind me repairing appliances. Have calibrated more ovens then I can count. I had to calibrate this oven and it was then when I found the difference between convection and normal bake. I knew from the results of what we cooked that the two were not even close. While I was able to calibrate for ether convection use or normal, there was no way I could do both. Conve ction ovens do cook differently than none convection. But the temperature should still be good. 350 should be 350 plus our minus about 15 degrees on each side of 350.
When trying to cook something wrapped in tin foil, the oven struggled with this.
We also are not all that crazy about the outside of the oven getting as hot as it does. If you want to use the top of the oven for a food warmer, then fine, you can do it. I really don't wish to have an oven that gets about has hot on the outside as it does on the inside.
Be careful when pulling out the rack with something when you have something on it. They tend to let go.
